307/365: best spontaneous 36 hours spent in #seoul to feed ze soul at my fave museum @leeummuseumofart & now i feel alive again 🥹✨
/
#leebul : from 1998 to now —
i. via negativa: when the artist forces you to confront you;
ii. via negativa: walking through this path of fractured mirrors was discomforting yet strangely meditative; learnt later that Lee Bul was speaking of a theological concept “the negative way” that the divine can only be approached indirectly through negation & silence, rather than affirmation. On the outer walls are pages from Julian Jaynes’s The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind (1976) - my next read on human consciousness;
iii. Souterrain: the entrance to leebul’s exhibition - thinking about hidden spaces and the tension between what we are asked to see vs what we do not see;
iv. Thaw (takaki masao);
v. Untitled (Willing to be vulnerable - velvet #12);
vi. close-up on untitled - mother-of-pearl AND velvet;
vii. 퍼두/ perdu;
viii. heaven and earth - strangely reminded me of hankang’s books and learnt later this artwork was a reference to activist Park Jong-cheol (see han kang’s human act);
ix. excavation - on collective trauma, bodies;

x. 양혜규의 <서울 근성 - 얼굴 없는 미녀> - zoom in & look closely you might recognise some things haha;
xi. Jenny Holzer’s <New Corner>;
xii. Christian Marclay’s <Telephone>;

reflected a lot on humanity, media as a medium/tool/ expression, technology, history, time past present future, & so i come back to this bit I just read in Prabal Gurung’s memoir <Walk Like A Girl> - the human ego will really be our downfall

people often ask me where home is, since i live in between hotel rooms & other people’s rooms. Up until recently i answered sg, simply bcuz most people i love reside in sg; these days, ive found a home within myself, & the universe really do be bringing me people who can match this energy of love, generosity, kindness & humility + relieving me of those who only know to take

these days i also get lotsa invitations to go running but all i want to do is horizontal running……
alas what a life worth living

288/365: a random intimate evening with @novihealth @drsueanne @bschlippe two months ago led to the discovery of this year’s #NextInVogue - truly an impressive, well-curated space for imagination & dialogue; i walked away surprisingly refreshed and inspired. Thank you @voguesingapore for creating a platform like this! ✨

these panels really addressed the intersectionalities of art x people x creativity x culture x lifestyle x science x technology x nature x economy x history. There was so much wisdom within these walls I wanna keep close to my heart but I really wanted to share something I observed in these visionaries I hope to embody and to invite everyone to think about: they build themselves unapologetically but they also possessed a humility to recognise that what they create is not for everyone + to also take accountability and receive feedback well; they were always looking inward instead of pointing fingers. They lived as individuals part of a community/an industry/ a society, and chose actively to be good people~

to realise how interconnected everything really is,
